I might have enjoyed playing her more than Ratchet. Rivet is such a fun and likable character. But in Rift Apart's case, it worked beautifully. Creating a game where you play as 2 characters can often be very divisive. Each of the characters is just filled with charm and love. I never played a Ratchet and Clank game before so I wasn't at all familiar with any of the characters. Insomniac once again brought their A-Game and managed to bring out a 60FPS mode that also includes Ray-Tracing without sacrificing much of the visual quality except resolution. The world-building in most of the planets was simply breathtaking. The game not only looks and sounds stunning but it also feels like it. The graphics are definitely one of the key selling points. So there is enough variety to keep it fresh throughout the playthrough. I haven't even come around to test all of the weapons. It isn't comparable to other games that are known for their harder difficulties but that isn't what this game is about and I personally really enjoyed the difficulty balancing. I didn't expect the game to be this much of a challenge. The movement rewards quick response time and decision-making which is definitely needed at times when you play on the highest difficulty. It offers a lot of variety in movement and action. The overall gameplay and the combat is pretty much flawless. Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart does not only look absolutely gorgeous but it also has that incredible polish to it that you would expect from a first-party sony and insomniac game. This game is an absolute masterpiece from a technical standpoint. I still wasn*t sure if it was worth taking the risk to spend 80€ on a game that I usually would avoid. The things that caught my interest right of the bat when I saw the Reveal and the State of Play, was the interesting usage of the Playstation 5's SSD capabilities and the gorgeous graphics. But that usually doesn't mean that I would go out of my way and spend 80€ on a genre I'm not really fond of, just to experience something new. I mean I was desperate for a new fresh single-player experience. But something about Rift Apart just intrigued me. But something about Rift Apart just intrigued I went into this game not fully knowing what to expect. I went into this game not fully knowing what to expect.
